Contactless pay-and-go with ConCardis

Everybody knows the situation: long queues at the till with the customer about to pay looking frantically for the right notes and coins. Small payments are often the ones that are the most time-consuming.

This will all change with the introduction of contactless payments in 2009. Amounts up to 25 euro can then be settled conveniently by credit card in less than a second.

This is because your credit card will no longer have to be inserted or swiped through the terminal. Customers simply hold their cards in front of a scanner and pay “in passing” as it were. What’s more, purchases of up to 25 euro do not require any additional PIN or signature authorisation. An ideal feature for use in business sectors where small amounts are paid and customers are pressed for time. Pharmacies at airports or newspaper kiosks at railway stations, for example, could really benefit from this new, fast procedure, but contactless payments could also be an interesting prospect for fast-food restaurants, cinemas and parking metres.

In order to prevent customers from using their cards unwittingly, payment will be only activated if the distance between the chip and the scanner is less than four centimetres. A considerable attraction for customers is that they no longer have to hand over their cards at the till. This will make consumers feel more protected from misuse. For you as a merchant, this innovative payment procedure offers you the same level of security as with conventional credit card transactions.
