Visitors to Germany from outside the EU can use tax-free shopping services – the VAT they have paid for purchases inside Germany is refunded to them once they leave the country.

This terminal prints out a tax-free receipt automatically with the corresponding payment after selecting the appropriate “tax-free yes/no” option on payment – not only on payment by credit card, as you can also print out a tax-free receipt using the ConCardis comfort 500 hybrid terminal after payment in cash. This will save you, as a retailer, the tedious process of filling out tax-free forms by hand for your non-EU customers.
Apart from the tax-free function, you can also use the terminal for automatic currency conversion using the DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) system. Your customers can use this system to convert the payment amount from euros into their own currency, which will also make the amount – and also the tax-free amount – easier for your customers to follow.
In addition, ConCardis comfort 500 hybrid terminals are equipped with a hybrid card reader for reading credit cards via the magnetic strip or the more secure EMV chip.

How can my business offer tax-free services?
First, register with Tax Free Service at Global Refund. You will receive a tax-free acceptance sticker telling your customers that you offer this tax-free service. Your customers from overseas will receive a tax-free receipt entitling them to a VAT refund from Global Refund on leaving Germany.
