Creative food businesses wanted from Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The Gastro-Gründerpreis 2016 competition is beginning its third round. The competition is looking for innovative and creative start-up ideas from all areas of the catering industry from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Restaurant start-ups have until 15 July 2016 to apply online at www.gastro-gruenderpreis.de. In addition to the €5,000 start-up capital and helpful gifts, the prize supports its winner by way of a mentoring programme.
A jury of experts will review all the applications and select the five most convincing ideas. The winning concepts will be presented at Berlin Food Week in October 2016. Then each winner will be supported and advised by mentors from the jury. The initiator and organiser of the competition is orderbird, a provider of an iPad POS system for the catering industry.
‘Innovative ideas are exciting and the core of every good concept. But each good idea must also be sustainable in practice. Only those people who think through to the end of the process, get into the details and take different perspectives into account will be able to make their concept convincing,’ says Marcus W. Mosen, CEO of Concardis and member of the expert jury. Concardis was the lead investor in orderbird in October 2014 and has signed a strategic and operating partnership agreement with the Berlin-based company.
Other jury members for the competition are restaurant expert Christian Rach, baking icon Cynthia Barcomit and restaurant and service coach Vanessa Koch. Concardis and MasterCard are partners of the competition. ETL ADHOGA, Melitta and felix1.de are supporting the start-up initiative as sponsors.
