Awards for POS function Tax Free and Alipay software solution
Eschborn, 6 March 2017. Two products from the Eschborn-based payment service provider Concardis were singled out for awards today at the EuroShop trade fair in Düsseldorf. At the prize-giving ceremony for the Top Retail Product award, Concardis won gold in the category Point of Sale Efficiency for its function Tax Free. The payment service provider’s Alipay software solution also came away with gold in the category Process Optimisation. The award from BusinessHandel magazine is given to products that offer retailers a clear competitive advantage.
‘That two of our payment solutions should win the Top Retail Product award is a great commendation. It shows that we at Concardis have the right approach to product management. We also develop solutions with partners, because we understand what consumers actually use at the POS. So we can deliver real convenience and added value with payments’, says Marcus W. Mosen, CEO of Concardis.
The POS function Tax Free makes it easier for retailers to produce VAT refund vouchers for non-EU citizens. Travellers from outside the EU get the VAT included in the purchase price refunded when they leave Germany. Until now, retailers have had to fill in the forms by hand. With the additional POS function from Concardis, the necessary vouchers are created automatically during the payment process, whether payment is made by cash or credit card. That not only saves time and trouble, but above all represents an additional service for international customers. Retailers give tourists an extra incentive to buy with the function Tax Free and can thus increase their sales.
The Concardis solution for Alipay, a Chinese lifestyle and payment platform from Ant Financial Services Group, which with 450 million active users is the world’s largest, enables retailers to access an affluent group of customers. Alipay customers pay by means of a QR code, which is generated by the terminal and then scanned using the Alipay smartphone app. The advantage is that Chinese tourists do not need to change money with Alipay, which offers them the best exchange rate on the day. Concardis enables retailers to integrate this payment method into their existing terminal infrastructure simply by updating the software. Retailers can then send Chinese tourists special offers via the app and systematically attract new customers.
‘Today, payment solutions have to be designed with international markets in mind: online retail does not stop at national borders. At the in-store POS, we already offer payment solutions that consumers know from their home country. We support our retailers in using the opportunities this creates and thus positioning themselves on the market for long-term success’, says Mosen.
This is the ninth year in a row that the readers of BusinessHandel magazine have voted for the most innovative products out of 21 nominees in seven categories. The initial selection is made by an independent professional jury, which reviewed all the applicants, looking very closely at how the products performed in practice. Suppliers, service providers and shopfitters could compete for the Top Retail Product award in the categories Outlet Management, Innovation, Multichannel, POS Efficiency, Process Optimisation, Shop Ideas and Sales Promotion.
